A “Chosen Vessel” most aptly describes Dr. Gerald Thomas, Sr. Born and raised in Quincy Florida, Pastor Gerald Thomas, Sr. is the son of the late Mary and the late Isaac Thomas.
Walking in oneness with him is his beautiful wife Marilyn and three gifted children: Aeshia, Geralyn and Gerald, Jr.
He is a 1979 graduate of James A. Shanks High School in Quincy Florida. Dr. Thomas’ life has been interspersed with significant milestones as he has chosen to walk the path God has ordained for him.
He is a former student athlete at Lane College. He entered into America Baptist Theological Seminary (ABT). From there, he went to Mid America Theological Seminary where he earned a Master’s Degree in Divinity of Theology. Later he commuted to Jacksonville, Florida where he earned a Master’s Degree in Christian Education in 1996. Finally, in 1197 Dr. Thomas earned a Doctorate of Psychology in Christian Philosophy.
December 23, 2013 Dr. Gerald Thomas, Sr. was consecrated as a district overseer in the state of Florida by Bishop George Bloomer & CLURT International Assembly, for the North West Region of the state of Florida. God Is Good! He is ever so worthy to be praised. Dr. Thomas desire is to win souls to Christ through the uncompromising Word of God.
Dr. Thomas is an author; he has written a book entitled “The Aid of the Shepherd”. It can be purchased on Amazon & Barnes & Nobles. He also has written another book on marriage that is being published and will be out soon.
February 20, 2016 Dr. Thomas gave birth to an outreach ministry named The Gathering Place (TWO) The Word Outreach, which is a teaching ministry. The ministry offers:
- Marital counseling
- Weddings
- Street Ministry
- Counseling for boys and girls from a disadvantaged background to help them become responsible citizens and leaders of tomorrow.
- Adullam Bible College – Dr. Thomas is the Instructor
The Gathering Place holds service every Sunday afternoon 12:30pm, which is an “Hour of Power”. In addition, Impartation (Bible Class) held every Monday evening 6pm, which is entitled: “Monday Night Raw” Radical Anointed Word.
Dr. Thomas newest accomplishments:
- He works with the Madison Co. Juvenile Court System, assisting with the troubled youth within the Jackson Madison Co. Community.
- 2020 he was appointed to lead the Men Section of the Browns Creek Association
- Lane College Hall of Fame Inductee on October 2, 2021
Dr. Thomas is a former athlete where he played for the Memphis Showboats, Ottawa Rough Riders and the Dallas Cowboys (Strike Team) four games. Sports help develop his will as for as ministry, understanding team concept and learning how to deal with being hit from the blind side of life.
Dr. Thomas has pastored several churches and currently God has appointed him to serve as pastor of St. John #1 Baptist Church located at 501 Adair Road in Jackson, TN.
